How do the shirts run size-wise?
Click here for a link to our sizing charts. Please note that when we say the women’s shirts are EXTREMELY small, we aren’t kidding.
Do your T-shirts shrink?
Most of our shirts are pre-shrunk 100% cotton. Even though they are pre-shrunk, shirts can still shrink. The extent of the shrinkage depends on the color and how you wash and dry the shirt.
In the subscription /shirt special, can I send the shirt to one address and the subscription to another?
Sorry, the subscription / shirt special is a package deal and can’t be split apart.
Why did my credit card transaction fail?
If your are using a valid credit card and the transaction fails, there are a number of potential reasons. Please check the following: The CID code must be entered correctly – it’s the last three digits on the strip on the back of a MasterCard or Visa or the 4 digits to the top right of an American Express number The billing address you enter must match where your credit card statement is sent Your name must appear exactly as it does on your credit card, including your middle initial if it is on your credit card If this still doesn’t work, call us toll-free at 1-855-MY-FLOSS.
Why didn’t the discount code work?
If the discount did not calculate after you clicked ‘apply discount’, check to see that the discount date is still valid. Also, please note that promotions always exclude package deals, clearance and magazine subscriptions--unless otherwise noted. Coupon codes are not valid with previously ordered items, in combination with other coupon codes, or online gift certificates. Mental Floss, Inc. reserves the right to change or coupons at any time without notification.
I messed up my order, can I fix it?
If your order hasn’t already shipped, give us a toll-free call at 1-855-MY-FLOSS and we will be happy to assist you.
How will I know if you got my order?
An invoice will appear on screen after you submit your payment. Print the invoice for your records but you’ll also receive a copy via email.
When will my order ship?
Most orders ship within 3-4 business days via US Mail. If you ordered a subscription please allow 8-10 weeks for delivery of your first issue.
Do you offer package tracking?
Yes. All of our packages are sent via US Mail with delivery confirmation tracking. US Mail packages can be tracked here. For customers that upgrade shipping to UPS 2nd Day delivery, those orders can be tracked here. Be sure to provide a valid email address to receive the tracking number.
Do you ship to military addresses?
Yes! How could we not. Simply select APO or FPO from our drop-down lists.
Will I have to pay customs fees on my order?
Your international order may be subject to customs duties/fees when it arrives. Unfortunately, since mental_floss doesn't set or have control over these fees, we can't estimate what your charges will be. If you aren't familiar with the customs fees in your country, please check with your local customs office for more information. Because we are a retail store, we are not able to mark orders as 'Gifts' for customers to avoid paying these fees. In addition, we can't accommodate pre-payment of these fees for gift orders. The shipping charges you pay to mental_floss do NOT include customs fees, import taxes, brokerage fees, or duties. If you refuse to pay these customs fees when your order arrives, the shipment will be returned to mental_floss and we will be charged the customs fees plus return shipping costs. Therefore, we do not issue refunds for customs fees, shipping, or the cost of your order if you refuse to pay the customs fees as we incur additional costs. The delivery of your order may be delayed due to customs processing. If your order doesn't arrive in a reasonable amount of time, please check with your local customs office to see if they are holding your package for payment of fees. Some customs offices will send a separate invoice for your customs fees that might arrive several weeks after you receive your shipment. Please be familiar with the customs laws in your country before you order!
What is your return / exchange policy?
Unopened and unused products may be exchanged or returned for a credit within 30 days. Unbagged t-shirts that have not been worn, are okay to return or exchange.

Do you offer Gift Certificates?
Of course we do. They are great for folks who procrastinate or just can’t make up their minds. Please note that coupon codes and discounts never apply to gift certificates.

Can I submit an original T-shirt idea?
We are always looking for new and fresh ideas. Just submit your idea to firstname.lastname@example.org. We'll pay you $125 and send you a free shirt if we use your idea. Disclaimer: All submissions made to mental_floss become the property of Mental Floss, Inc. and may be used without further permission by the submitter and without compensation to the submitter. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not submit anything to mental_floss.
When will my subscription start?
Good question but a hard one to answer. The easy answer is 8 to 10 weeks depending on when an order hits our monthly processing cycle. If you do have a question, please call our wonderful customer service staff at 1-855-MY-FLOSS.
Why can’t I order a subscription outside the US?
You can order a subscription on our website www.mentalfloss.com. Click on the ‘subscribe’ link in the upper-left corner. Unfortunately, our programming can’t support foreign subscriptions so the subscription/T-shirt special is only for US customers.
Do you offer discounts on bulk orders?
Yes, we do offer discounts on bulk orders when the minimum* order amount has been reached. For more information and price quotes, please email email@example.com.
Can I get a catalog / gift guide mailed to me?
Sure, no problem. Please send a note via our "Contact Us" form to request a copy.
I ordered from Slate.com or TheWeek.com, why am I checking out via the mental_floss store?
