Baseball may be America’s pastime, but dodgeball is a reminder of just how far we’ve come. There was a time when a grave crime like murder, or a mildly serious offense like theft, or even a small, victimless crime like being rude to a horse could earn you a hail of hurtling rocks. It all really depended on just how big of a jerk your local Sheriff was.

Luckily, we’ve evolved. Today, jagged stones have been replaced by a big, red playground ball, and the only crime that matters is being on the other team.
